Blogging blogging...

I wanted to start my blogs years ago but never got around to do it, in a simple reason that Terry doesn't like me to do so. Put this in his original words he doesn't want to marry some computer geek who sitting in front of a computer all day.(it's understandable considering he himself is working on software all day and he want the quality time together as a couple in the evening). Whenever I was sitting in front of a computer for more than 10 minutes in the evening he would shout from downstairs 'your programme is on!' etc... or my mobile would ring, when I rushed down to get my phone just to found out it was Terry... well, well, blogging was off the table for a long time and I just do a bit on-line chatting on sohu lunch time at work, as it's in Chinese I always tell the curious colleagues that I am blogging.

The real start of blogging is the beginning of this year when I was a bout 4 months into my maternity leave. Terry seemed suddenly understand my urge to blog post-baby though he is not my blogs' keen reader (At least he would read it once I told him I have a new post :-)) But why we, women, need to blog? where is this urge come from? Is this a kind of self-obsess or simply therapeutic? Why women tend to blog more? Especially after they had baby...

A mum of three, Wifeinthenorth, just turn her blogs into 70,000 paycheck, Someone pay her £70.000 to turn her blogs into a book. She probably make her husband look a idiot in the process...

Interesting topic!

I never really thought why I blog. It began as a simple diary for Isaac after he was born. It was just a word document. Then I found it's actually much easier and look prettier if I put it in a blog. And it was totally private until much later. Once it's prettier and more public, I actually wrote more.

I used to write diary everyday since I was 11(?). That stopped as soon as I married Mark. Amazing what a marriage could do! So, the blog is just my diary I guess, a not too private diary.

Who knows what will happen in 10, 20 years time. Will definitely have much more fancy and advanced "diary".

Women natually love talking, so we blog more than men. As mothers, we love to show off our babies, that's why we blog. And we want our children to be able to know what happened in their early ages. No matter what, it's good to leave something in writing in case we don't even know what happened in our lives.

What do you think?

It is said that blogs liberated those who got something to say and those who want to be heard, those who are witty and wise and those who who are lonely and self-obsessed...you don't need a
literature degree to do it, you just need click the mouse and push the button, here you go! it's published! If you are witty humous, your audience might grow quickly and considerbly...

I found blogging is quite theraputic like any form of writting, it's a kind of self-expression. They say blog is the mood moment capturer and could be an emotion dumping ground. And everthing goes...the other day I found a really nice Chinese cooking recipe blog and it updates daily.

The grwoing popularity of women's post-natal baby blog has a lot to do with a woman's sheer joy post-baby, the adrenalin rush. You are absolutely right, it's women's talkitive nature and they want to be heard 'see I got a beautiful baby!'. Blogs provide such a space for that

Yes blog is a great place to express myself and keep in touch with friends. However it can be a lot of work as well. I just spent all my spare time today sorting out the photos from last few days, uploading them to the web albums with are connected to the blog, and doing a bit of work on the blog. It's tiring!! But it's good that at least the blog keeps me going, otherwise I would never have time or mood to sort out those thusands of photos.

I read Chinese cooking blogs as well. It's great to read them even if I don't try the recipes out often.

I have same issue as yours: Mark has huge problem with me spending too much time on the computer. :(
